60 Curzon Street

After winning an open tender we were appointed by Balfour Beatty to screen a transformer room located within the building. Design constraints dictated that areas surrounding the transformer location were designated as occupied areas and required EMF protection.

Coreshield were tasked to reduce the surrounding ambient to internationally acceptable levels for human occupation.

Project Overview

The building programme coordinating wet trades dictated a two-stage installation. Soffit screening had to be completed before the transformer chamber walls could be constructed. Hot works on this site was not allowed.

Based on results from sophisticated computer modelling, our highly permeable lightweight screening system was agreed upon. The benefit of this system is that it can be mechanically jointed providing excellent screening performance without the requirement for hot works.

In stage one, of the installation the soffit was successfully installed. At the request of the client sometime later we returned for stage two and completed the screening installation which required joining the externally screened walls to the previously installed soffit thus completing the homogenous screening. Our flexible approach delivered the end product to the satisfaction of the client.
